Artist: Thor Handel
Title: Imprisonment
The objective of sculpture was to show the essence of human in form. I created a human spiral balancing on his elbow. I chose this human posture because the form is balancing awkwardly just as normal humans are balancing awkwardly between the laws of society and the rules we live life by. I targeted High School students as my audience. I thought they would be drawn to my sculpture by shared experiences. The spiral shows a pattern of moving towards higher goals, but not in a direct way. The spiral represents how we change and revisit ourselves and bingo, bango, bongo... you should get the idea by now.
